Ingredients
- ½ cup of shea butter (get it here)
- ¼ cup of olive oil (get it here)
Method
Place the shea butter in an electric stand mixer and beat it into a cream while slowly adding in the olive oil. Transfer to a clean jar. You can also add any essential oils of choice for fragrance and other healing properties. I recommend lavender, geranium, bergamot and palma rosa essential oils.
2. Whipped Body Butter for Smooth Skin
Ingredients
- ¼ cup shea butter (get it here)
- ¼ cup olive oil (get it here)
- 1 tbsp jojoba oil (get it here)
- 1 tsp arrow root powder (get it here)
- 7 drops of geranium essential oil (get it here)
Method
Melt down the shea butter together with the olive & jojoba oils in a double boiler or saucepan on low heat. Once liquid, leave it to cool down until its almost solid again then use your hand mixer to whip it to a fluffy cream. Add the arrow root powder to cut down on the greasiness and lavender essential oil for its calming properties and fresh floral scent.
3. Shea Butter Salve for Severely Dry and Flaky Skin
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp beeswax pastilles (get it here)
- 2 tbsp shea butter (get it here)
- 3 tbsp olive oil (get it here)
- 7-10 drops lavender essential oil (get it here)
Method
In a double boiler, melt the beeswax and shea butter till liquid. Then add olive oil and optional essential oil. Stir well with a spoon. Pour into a salve tin or glass container. Apply immediately after washing your face or showering when your skin is still wet, to lock moisture in.
