How to Make Shampoo with Yucca Powder

If you’re into herbal remedies, then you’ve got to learn how to make shampoo with yucca powder!

You can never think of using roots to wash your hair, am I right? But the Native Americans did!

They prepared a smooth concoction with yucca root which they used as a shampoo that slightly lathered. As of now, you and me can’t have access to fresh yucca root and even if we did, the time spent making shampoo from yucca root would be tedious. Thankfully, there exists yucca root powder or yucca powder! It can be used to very quickly whip up a shampoo in minutes!

Yucca powder is extracted from yucca root. It is an herb that has been used by the Native Americans for various medicinal purposes such as healing sores, reducing scarring and purifying the blood, among others. They have also used it as a natural shampoo and say it actively fights hair loss!

But how in the world does yucca root work as a shampoo?! Read on!

How Does Yucca Powder Work as a Shampoo?

Yucca root powder has natural saponins in it. Saponins are natural cleaning agents. They form a slight foam when mixed up with water.

It’s just like garbanzo flour, rye flour, mung bean flour and even oatmeal! When you mix these substances with water, notice how slippery they become, with a slight lathery effect like soap?! Yup, that’s what make yucca powder a nice shampoo.

I tried your yucca recipe for dry hair (followed it exactly) and it left my hair dull and feeling like it had not been washed at all. And yes, I rinsed it all out. Do you have any other suggestions for how I can use the yucca root powder now that I have a large bag of it?
