10 Surprising Beauty Benefits of Hydrogen Peroxide

These surprising beauty benefits of hydrogen peroxide will help you achieve healthier and prettier skin, hair and more!

Most of us have a bottle of hydrogen peroxide in our medicine cabinets. It’s used as an antiseptic to disinfect cuts but did you know that it can also amp up your natural beauty routine? Yes that’s right! Let’s explore 10 beauty benefits of hydrogen peroxide below!

10 Beauty Benefits of Hydrogen Peroxide

These surprising beauty benefits of hydrogen peroxide will help you achieve beautiful skin, hair and more!

1. Whitens Teeth

Perhaps the most known beauty use of hydrogen peroxide is its amazing teeth whitening abilities!

  • Teeth Whitener: In a small dish, add 1 tsp of baking soda, ½ tsp hydrogen peroxide and mix it to form a chunky paste. If you have sensitive teeth, add a little water too. Brush your teeth with this for a minute then rinse your mouth. Do this once a week or once in two weeks.

2. Treats and Reduces Acne

Hydrogen peroxide is a great disinfectant for wounds right? Well, it can also disinfect your face too! This is especially useful for acne prone skin! Combine 1 part hydrogen peroxide with 2 parts water. Use a cotton ball to apply the solution all over your face. Let it dry up then rinse off with cold water and moisturize with this Water-Based Green Tea Face Moisturizer.

3. Hair Lightener

You can also use hydrogen peroxide as a hair lightener! It brings out natural highlights in blonde hair. Do a hair rinse with it as follows:
In a Pyrex measuring cup, add 2 ½ cups of water and 2 tbsp hydrogen peroxide. Pour it over your hair in the final hair rinse after shampooing your hair. Try this once in 2 weeks.

4. Natural Deodorant

Hydrogen peroxide helps bust body odor by killing off bacteria. Bacteria on skin is what is responsible for causing bad odor. Swipe hydrogen peroxide onto clean underarms using a cotton ball. If you have sensitive skin, then you can dilute it with water before applying.

5. Soften Rough Heels & Feet

Remove calluses and rough hard skin on your feet by soaking it in a solution of water and hydrogen peroxide. It softens corns and calluses while detoxifying the feet, disinfecting germs and neutralizing foot odor.

6. Natural Toothpaste

A cheaper and natural alternative to store-bought whitening toothpaste is using a mix of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda! Simply mix 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 3 parts baking soda and add a little distilled water. Now add 4 drops of peppermint essential oil and enough stevia to sweeten. Store in a cool dry place. Use in place of whitening toothpaste.

7. Clean Makeup Brushes

Effectively clean your makeup brushes using hydrogen peroxide! It disinfects your brushes and removes dirt thoroughly. In a jar or Pyrex cup, mix hydrogen peroxide and water in a 1:1 ratio. Soak your brushes for about 10 minutes then rinse well with tepid water.

8. Brighten Nails

Remove dark polish stains or yellowness from nails using hydrogen peroxide! It naturally whitens nails and makes them appear brighter! To use, soak your nails in hydrogen peroxide for 5 minutes or rub a cotton ball saturated with the solution.

9. Reduce Oily Hair

Got an oily hair problem? Try using a hydrogen peroxide hair rinse! It regulates sebum on the scalp which reduces oily hair. Simply dilute 2 tbsp of hydrogen peroxide with 2 1/2 cups of water and use this as your final hair rinse.

10. Remove Discolorations & Blemishes

Acne scars, dark spots, age spots and other discolorations can be lightened using hydrogen peroxide. Use a Q-tip to apply it on these areas then rinse off after 10 minutes to help fade off your blemishes.
