Tea tree oil and coconut oil are both highly touted as amazing acne treatment natural options. In this post, learn how exactly you can cheaply but effectively use tea tree oil and coconut oil for acne.

An essential oil and carrier oil mix that’s perfectly effective for acne prone skin is tea tree oil and coconut oil. Tea tree oil is potent and antibacterial while coconut oil is soothing and nourishing. Below, let’s look at the list of benefits both tea tree oil and coconut oil for acne are:

How to Use Tea Tree Oil and Coconut Oil for Acne

Note: Coconut oil is comedogenic, meaning it has the potential to block pores. However, any acne-prone people can tolerate it very well (me included). I believe if you have a proper skin cleansing regimen which includes washing your face properly before bed, then don’t fear coconut oil clogging your skin. Still, if you’re in doubt then use a non-comedogenic substance like shea butter for acne instead.

Before trying out these recipes, make sure to carry out patch tests to see that you’re not allergic to the ingredients used. Below are three ways you can use tea tree oil and coconut oil for acne prone skin:

1. Antibacterial Face Wash

What you need

  • ¼ cup liquid castile soap (where to get it)
  • 1 cup distilled water (where to get it)
  • 7 drops tea tree oil (where to get it)
  • 1 tsp fractionated coconut oil (where to get it)
  • Foaming soap dispenser bottles (where to get it)

Directions

  1. In a Pyrex measuring cup, add the distilled water, then mix up the tea tree oil in the fractionated coconut oil and add it as well.
  2. Slowly pour the liquid castile soap. Now stir well using a spatula and pour it into foaming soap dispenser bottles.
  3. Pump once and apply the foam on your face. Rinse well and pat dry with a clean towel.

2. Acne Cream

What you need

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil (where to get it)
  • 10 drops tea tree oil (where to get it)
  • 2 oz amber container (where to get it)

Directions

  1. Into the 2 oz amber container, add the coconut oil and tea tree oil.
  2. Now start mixing and mashing the ingredients till you form a creamy paste.
  3. Store in a cool dry place and use a tiny amount to moisturize your face.

3. Night Time Acne Serum

What you need

  • 4 tbsp fractionated coconut oil (where to get it)
  • 10 drops tea tree oil (where to get it)
  • 10 drops lavender oil (where to get it)
  • 2 oz amber glass dropper bottle (where to get it)

Directions

  1. Shake everything up in the amber glass dropper bottle.
  2. Store in a cool dry place.
  3. Apply a drop or two onto skin at night time before bed.
