First off, crow’s feet is not related to crows or feet in any way. It’s a term used to describe the tiny creases and crinkles some people (mostly older people) have at the ends of their eyes. You’ll notice them when a person smiles, laughs or squints. Like this in the picture above.
Crow’s feet are definitely not appealing if one wants to look young. Apparently, the best way to get rid of crow’s feet is by getting Botox injections. But dayum, those are expensive plus those needles they use are really scary.
If you’ve just noticed crow’s feet creeping up on you, it’s time to start using a natural wrinkle-reducer called shea butter. It’s a luscious product from Heaven itself. Just kidding! It’s a plant-based butter extracted from the seeds of the fruits of the Shea tree. It’s native to Africa, where people have been using it for millennia to moisturize their skin and hair.
How Does Shea Butter Help Crow’s Feet?
What makes shea butter helpful for crow’s feet? Take a look below:
► Contains a Boatload of Vitamin A: Shea butter is very rich in vitamin A. It’s what gives it it’s yellowish color. Vitamin A is good for moisturizing dry skin. Dry skin is one of the major causes of wrinkles. A properly moisturized face is what makes skin supple and wrinkle-free.
► Boosts Collagen Production: Collagen is the protein structure that holds our skin together. Too little collagen makes our skin saggy and wrinkly. With its nourishing nutrient content, shea butter boosts collagen production. This keeps skin looking young and smooth.
► Intensely Moisturizes Skin: As we looked at above, dry skin causes wrinkles. So you have to ensure your skin is moisturized always to prevent crow’s feet. Remember, the skin near the eyes is very thin and doesn’t produce sebum. This makes it prone to dryness and wrinkles! A luscious butter, shea butter intensely moisturizes skin. It is soft, smooth and has a nice waxy consistency that gives skin a supple look.
► Rich in Anti-Oxidants: Antioxidants fight off free radicals which are unstable molecules that are known to cause premature aging. Free radicals cause wrinkles and crow’s feet by stealing oxygen molecules from healthy skin cells as a way of stabilizing themselves. Shea butter is rich in antioxidants like vitamin E that ward off free radicals.
How to Use Shea Butter for Crow’s Feet
You can choose to use shea butter directly on your crow’s feet. Or, mix it up with other anti-aging ingredients to create a powerful wrinkle-reducing cream.
Directly:
- Start by washing your face with a gentle cleanser. Make sure you apply the shea butter on a clean and dry face. If your skin is perpetually dry, then apply the shea butter on a damp face before you pat it dry.
- Scoop up a pea-sized amount of shea butter on your clean index finger. Massage it gently on your crow’s feet in circular motions.
- Apply your face moisturizer.
Make an Eye Cream:
So I already have a DIY Shea Butter Eye Cream Recipe on the blog. But for your sake, let me repeat the recipe below. If you want to know how the ingredients are useful, click the link in the previous sentence.

Where to Get Shea Butter
I love Better Shea Butter’s Unrefined Shea Butter. It comes in a big packet and carries a pound of shea butter. It’s soft, so it’s easy to scoop up with clean fingers and apply on your lips! It’s one of the best brands of shea butter around if you want a high quality product.
