Nourishing Avocado Hair Mask Recipes for Gorgeous Hair

Ancient Egyptians were the first people to use the amazing avocado as a natural moisturizer and conditioner for dry hair. This silky butter fruit is rich in essential fatty acids, such as oleic acid, that nourish and lubricate dull hair strands, thereby strengthening them against breakage. The Vitamin E in avocados will promote circulation in the scalp, treat & repair dry and damaged hair, heal the hair shaft, prevent split ends and hair breakage.

An avocado hair mask is not just for people with dry/frizzy hair. Combining avocado with other powerful hair-boosting ingredients will create nourishing hair masks that deep condition locks, promote hair growth and repair damaged hair. Below are three easy DIY avocado hair mask recipes you can whip up for gorgeous hair!

Avocado and olive oil both contain fatty acids that will deep condition hair and make it silky and soft. This avocado olive oil hair mask will lock moisture into dry hair and also strengthen the hair and promote growth. Check out the benefits of olive oil for hair below:

Olive Oil – Olive Oil has deep hydrating and moisturizing properties that will help retain moisture in the hair strands, thereby preventing dry & frizzy hair. It is also rich in Vitamin E which prevents scalp inflammation and repairs damage to the hair follicles.

Lavender Essential Oil – This sweet-scented essential oil nourishes hair follicles, seals moisture into dry hair and repairs dry and damaged hair.

How to Make an Avocado Olive Oil Hair Mask

Ingredients
• 1/2 avocado
• 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil (get it here)
• 3 drops lavender essential oil (get it here)

Directions
1. Wash your avocado and cut it in half. You will need only ½ of the avocado so you can save the other half for guacamole. :p
2. Scoop out the flesh from one half of the avocado into a high speed blender. Blend the avocado thoroughly into a lump-free puree.
3. Place your avocado puree in a clean bowl and stir in the one teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil and 3 drops lavender oil.
4. Mix the three ingredients thoroughly and your avocado olive oil hair mask is ready!
5. Apply it to dry/wet hair and tie your hair in a bun. Wait for about 7 to 10 minutes then wash off the avocado olive oil hair mask very well in tepid to cold water. Wring and wrap your hair in a fluffy towel.

My Tip: I like to add a little water when blending my avocado into a puree. This of course helps it blend faster and also get a silky soft texture!

2. Avocado Egg Hair Mask for Hair Growth

These two ingredients combined together form a nourishing avocado egg hair mask for hair growth. Avocados contain vitamin E and essential fatty acids that promote hair growth while eggs contains protein and sulphur that strengthen the hair follicles and stimulate hair growth. More benefits of eggs for hair:

Egg – The large amount of protein in eggs makes it an intense protein hair treatment that will promote silky and shiny hair. Eggs are also rich in essential fats that will nourish & moisturize the hair strands.

Rosemary Oil – The best essential oil for hair growth, rosemary stimulates blood circulation in the hair follicles and fights off fungal infections.

How to Make an Avocado Egg Hair Mask

Ingredients
• ½ avocado
• 1 egg
• 3 drops rosemary essential oil (get it here)

Directions
Cut your avocado in half, peel and throw it into a high speed blender. Also crack your egg into the blender. Blend till you get a smooth and lump-free avocado egg hair mask. Then add 3 drops rosemary essential oil. Using clean fingers, scoop up the mixture and start applying it onto your scalp, working your way slowly downwards. Leave the hair mask to penetrate for at least 7 to 10 minutes. When the time is up, rinse off the hair mask several times using COLD water to get rid of the mask + egg smell completely. Towel dry your hair for best results.

My Tip: Never mash up an avocado for a HAIR mask no matter how ripe it is. Always blend the avocado into a puree because no matter how much you try to mash it, the hair mask will still contain tiny avocado bits that just can’t be mashed up. These small lumps will stick to your hair strands and make it a downright pain to get rid of.
