Homemade Thick Creamy Body Wash

A homemade thick creamy body wash is every beauty DIYer’s dream…isn’t it? And if you’re a DIY enthusiast like me, then you’ll be blown away by this thick and creamy body wash.

First off, it’s totally natural. Like nothing in the ingredients is synthetic! That means you’re treating your skin to the max with utmost love and natural goodness.

Making your own body wash is so fantastic because you can add your favorite scents to make it smell gorgeous! I chose the combination of lavender, geranium and tea tree because it smells divine. These essential oils are also antibacterial and antimicrobial so your skin will be acne-free!

I used coconut oil but if you live in a relatively cold area where you know your coconut oil will get hard and solidify, then by all means, please use fractionated coconut oil. I also used almond oil – both coconut and almond oils make your skin soft and smooth!

This homemade thick creamy body wash lathers very well. When you step out of the shower, your skin may be feeling oily BUT once you dry off with a towel, it’ll turn smooth and oh-so-soft, I promise!

Onto the recipe!

DIY Pumpable Homemade Body Lotion

Homemade thick and creamy body wash! It's so easy to make and lathers well! It feels so good and moisturizing too! Great for dry skin

What you Need

  • 1 cup liquid castlile soap (where to get it)
  • ½ cup coconut oil (where to get it) or fractionated coconut oil (where to get it)
  • ½ cup almond oil (where to get it)
  • 1 tsp vitamin E oil (where to get it)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable glycerin (where to get it)
  • 10 drops geranium oil (where to get it)
  • 10 drops lavender oil (where to get it)
  • 10 drops tea tree oil (where to get it)
  • Double boiler (where to get it)
  • Immersion blender (where to get it)
  • Pyrex measuring cup (where to get it)
  • 16 oz pump bottle (where to get it)

Directions

  1. Begin by melting your coconut using a double boiler.
  2. When it’s down to liquid form, place it in a Pyrex measuring cup then add the vegetable glycerin and stir briskly.
  3. Now slowly pour in the almond oil, liquid castile soap and vitamin E oil.
  4. Blend everything slowly in small pulses together with an immersion blender so it combines into a thick liquid.
  5. When it turns thicky white and creamy, add in the essential oils and blend again.
  6. Once everything is well combined, pour into your pump bottle using a funnel. It makes 16 oz.

My Tips

► It lasts more than 3 months but make sure not to get any water into it! Water will contaminate it. It’s better off to pour only 8 oz into a small pump bottle then store the rest in the refrigerator so you can keep refilling as it gets done. This way, you can make sure to lengthen its shelf life.

► If you don’t have an immersion blender, you can use a high speed blender. But the best thing to use is an immersion blender since it combines everything VERY well so your body wash won’t separate.

► Instead of the essential oils I used, you can use your own favorites, for example, use lemon oil with lavender oil for a fresh citrusy scent! Or, combine cedarwood oil and vetiver oil for a masculine scent.

Hello. I was so excited by this recipe as I’ve made body wash before and it is so runny that I go through it really quickly. I don’t think I have blended it enough .can I put it back in the jug and blend again till it becomes thick? Do U need to give it quite a go to make it thick? Thanks!

I made this recipe a while back, and mine separated, too. It thickened, but it still separated when left to sit for a couple days. I just gave the bottle a good shaking before every use to re-incorporate it all. Does yours stay thicken up and then get runny? Or is it always runny? Climate could play a role if you live somewhere hot. Hope this helps!
