Scalp-Nourishing 2 Ingredient Hair Mask

This 2 ingredient hair mask is perfect for those who simply have no time to mix up a variety of ingredients to make the ultimate hair mask.

Although this hair mask contains only 2 ingredients, don’t be fooled! It works wonders for all hair types and will stimulate hair growth by providing scalp nourishing nutrients!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin unrefined cold pressed coconut oil
  • 1 ripe banana

Benefits of the Ingredients

  • Coconut oil is the ultimate nourishing ingredient. It contains healthy fatty acids such as lauric, capric, caprylic and mystiric acids which hydrate hair follicles by sealing moisture in them.
  • Bananas are rich in B-vitamins, lectins, vitamin A and a high potassium content. These vital nutrients nourish hair follicles, hydrate hair cells, strengthen the hair shaft and enhance the hair’s natural resistance to breakage.

Directions

1. Gather your ingredients. Make sure you have a ripe banana and extra virgin unrefined cold pressed coconut oil.
2. Toss your ingredients into a blender.

How to Apply the Hair Mask

Start massaging the hair mask onto your wet scalp and hair strands. Tackle all areas of your scalp and hair. Wrap your hair in a loose bun and cover with a shower cap. Wait for 15 minutes. When the time is up, rinse off the hair mask very thoroughly. Wring and wrap your hair in a fluffy towel.

My Tips

  • Make and apply the hair mask right before a shower so that you can efficiently rinse it off thoroughly.
  • Blend your hair mask very well till you end up with a lump free mixture. You don’t want bits of banana in your hair! You can even sieve the hair mask mixture to remove tiny particles which might stubbornly stick to your strands or better yet, use banana baby food.
  • You can opt out of warming the hair mask. This is just to open your hair follicles to let the goodness penetrate deep.
  • Please use extra virgin cold pressed unrefined coconut oil on your hair. Processed coconut oil usually contains additives that will not give you good results.
  • Do not use hot water to rinse off your hair. Only use cool, tepid or slightly warm water to wash your hair, to prevent hair fall.
  • Use a very ripe banana to make the hair mask for easy blending into a lump free mixture.

Where to Get a Natural Shampoo

If you are going chemical-free on your hair, but want to save the time of making a homemade shampoo, this Maple Holistics Sage Shampoo is a game-changer. It contains powerful herbs such as sage: for dandruff & itchy scalp treatment, rosemary: for hair growth and prevention of hair loss and spikenard for dandruff treatment. It also has argan, jojoba and tea tree oils that all protect the scalp from germs, keep hair clean as well as hydrated and moisturized. This shampoo does not contain sulfates, so it will not lather the way you are used to, but you will quickly get used to it and notice the difference!
