Rosehip oil is amazing. Its anti-aging effects are out of this world! If you’re wondering how to use rosehip oil on your face, then read on!
Extracted from the wild rose bush, rosehip oil is not something that comes from your usual rose plants. Rosehip oil is got from a special type of rose bush that doesn’t resemble the real rose bushes. It has brilliant red fruits called rosehips and produces white/pink flowers.
Rosehip oil is rich in many nourishing nutrients such as vitamin A, which gives it its brilliant reddish-orange hue, vitamin E, vitamin C, vitamin K and essential fatty acids. All of these are very important for healthy and vibrant skin!

Now let’s look at how to use rosehip oil on your face:
How to Use Rosehip Oil on Your Face
1. Direct Application
Rosehip oil is a beauty oil that you can use directly on your skin, without first diluting it. Simply get 3 drops on your palm, rub your palms together and deeply massage your face using upward motions. Don’t forget to apply on your neck as well!
2. Spot Treatment
If you’re using rosehip oil for acne scars, other facial scars, freckles, under eye wrinkles and eczema patches, you can use rosehip oil as a spot treatment. Simply get a drop of rosehip oil on your clean index finger then rub it on the areas of concern. Or you can use a Q-tip.
3. Night Facial Cream
It’s very easy to make a facial cream with shea butter! All you need to do is place 2 tbsp of soft shea butter, 2 tsp of rosehip oil and 12 drops of lavender essential oil in a large bowl. Now start mixing everything up using a hand mixer. When well combined and creamy, transfer it into a clean container. Apply a pea-sized amount on your whole face at night time.
4. Anti-Aging Serum
A powerful anti-aging serum can be made by combining rosehip oil with other anti-aging oils such as pomegranate seed oil, vitamin E oil and argan oil!
Here’s how: Pour into an 2 oz amber glass dropper bottle, 1 tsp of pomegranate seed oil, 1 tsp of rosehip oil, ½ tsp vitamin E oil and 2 tbsp argan oil. Now you can add essential oils such as 4 drops lavender essential oil , 3 drops carrot seed essential oil and 5 drops geranium essential oil. Close the bottle and shake well to combine. Use 3 drops on your face daily.
Where to Get Rosehip Oil
Always look for 100% pure quality rosehip oil without additives. My recommended rosehip oil is this one from Leven Rose. You can buy it here.
Precaution
- Ensure to refrigerate rosehip oil as it only has a shelf life of 6 months.
- Rosehip oil is very low on the skin irritating scale. However, it’s always wise to be safe by using patch tests. Do a patch test on your inner wrist by applying 2 drops of rosehip oil. Wait for an hour or two. If you see any negative skin reaction, do not use rosehip oil on your body as you might be allergic.
